A Sparrow Pondered

A sparrow flew through a window into a room filled with the scent of baked sesame seeds. The sparrow pondered for a moment; it wanted to eat all the baked seeds, but the window was the only way out, and the sparrow could not be at ease.

What if it ate the sesame seeds and was full and then could not fly high to go out the window? What if the window closed and it could not fly out? What if a human walked in and it could not fly out fast enough?

And so, the sparrow gave the baked sesame seeds a mournful look and flew out without a second thought for the taste of the baked sesame seeds.

A short story by E.K.

Thought of the day:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
